Guided by physics curriculum theory, taking new curriculum standard as the criterion, this dissertation compares and analyzes systematically, from the perspective of literature research and scientific investigation, four senior high school physics textbooks which are about to be put into use in many schools.China in 21 century is a grand stage of education reform, on which physics curriculum reform attracts attention. The year 2003, a landmark in China's secondary physics education reform, witnessed the birth of new national standard for physics curriculum of senior high school, a milestone in China's secondary physics education reform. Because there had been no curriculum standard in China before, it was the brief syllabus of each discipline that instructed the teaching and study. Although the then syllabus reflected certain requirements of the times, it lacks overall grasp of the ideology, and moreover neglected essence of curriculum theory of psychology and education in the west. The foundation of the theory was not so desirable. Curriculum standard is the basis for textbook writing, teaching, evaluation and test designing. It is also the basis for national management and curriculum evaluation. Therefore, the modification and publishing of new curriculum standard for senior high school point out the direction of progress of physics curriculum reform in senior high school, serving as the scientific yardstick for new textbook writing.In September 2005, five sets of new physics textbooks of senior high school, approved by the Ministry of Education, were published. There are totally five sets of textbooks, edited by, namely, Shangdong Science and Technology Press (SSTP), People's Education Press (PEP), Guangdong Education Press (GEP), Shanghai Scientific & Technological Education Publishing House(SSTEPH), and Beijing Education Publishing House (BEPH). Each school of experimental areas chose one of them, and started to put it into use. These textbooks, inspirited by brand new educational ideas in new curriculum standard, undoubtedly rouse great response. Based on the representative edition by SSTP, the author of the dissertation, in order to examine how these new curriculum standard is implemented in the textbooks, compares it with 2002 edition by PEP. in the aspects of overall contents, humanism of the words, physics aesthetics education and evaluation system reform.
