Construction And Sustentation Of Lower-class Culture In The Urban Redevelopment

Since 1990's, China has entered a period of fast urbanization. The large-scale urban construction has promoted urban development. However, influenced by the serious society problem in nowadays China, that is, the gap between poor and rich class has become more and more large, the large-scale urban reconstruction has threatened the living space of lower-class. During the reconstruction which mostly uses the way of clearing aging streets, the culture reflecting the low-class's life is disappearing immediately. It is not only a culture phenomenon. To a great extent, it reflects the crisis of the living space of lower-class in the city. The culture of the lower-class has played a significant role on the urban development. This culture is not only a important part of the urban multi-culture, but also greatly influences the lower-class's survival, which has a crucial meaning for social stability.The thesis has analyzed the cause which has made the culture recession of lower-class in old neighborhood from some main facts which influences the urban reconstruction. First, in the concept of "radiate garden city ornament" ,which has been accepted by most urban planners, architect and landscape designers, etc., there is no space for the culture of lower-class in the old neighborhood. The urban construction based on the concept has been destroying the old neighborhood; Second, the government's incomprehensive knowledge about the urban construction and bad urban management has also caused the recession of old neighborhood; Third, urban construction which focuses on real estate even directly causes the old neighborhoods clearing movement, compressing the living space of lower-class.To the fact of recession and disappear of culture of lower-class, this thesis has given some suggestions on saving old neighborhoods in the end, such as perfecting the community organization, lower-class dwelling house imbursement, and balanceable stable urban development strategy to maintain the culture of lower-class. Except the specific way motioned above, the most important thing for sustainable urban development is to keep the balance of every class's power in the decision-making of urban development. So, the continuance of lower-class's culture couldn't depend on single class's power, nor just on changing environment. Only do we connect the culture of lower-class with the problem of the whole society, and take comprehensive measures, then we can save the culture of lower-class in the city.
