Since 1986, when The Compulsory Education Act of the People's Republic of China was promulgated and implemented, basic education in our country has obtained great achievements. Up to 2004, 93.9 percentage district of whole country has basically popularized nine-year compulsory education. However, in the implementation of The Compulsory Education Act and the process of basic education development, there are still some problems, and students' dropping out in junior middle school is one of them, especially in countryside, this phenomenon is even prominent.Through the investigation of countryside students' dropping out in junior middle school in part of A county which has completed the work of "popularizing nine-year compulsory education" in Gansu province, this thesis comprehends that with the improvement of people's living level and the preferential policies implemented by our country to western countryside students, there is an increasing not decreasing tendency of countryside students' dropping-out ratio in junior middle school of this sample county. This phenomenon indicates that economic factor is not the key reason of students' dropping out of school. The investigation shows that there are many direct reasons of countryside students' dropping out in junior middle school, among them, the first three reasons are study difficulty, not interested in study and "the idea of the uselessness of study". And on the base of it, this thesis further analyzes the deeper reasons of dropping out of school. The author thinks that countryside students' dropping-out ratio in junior middle school of sample county is high because of the comprehensive effect of education, society and law; at the same time, this thesis more discusses deeper reasons of countryside students' dropping out in junior middle school from education itself. To point at these factors, this thesis tries to put forward suggestions to prevent and control countryside students' dropping out in junior middle school on the aspects of education, society and law.This thesis mainly includes four parts:Part I: Introduction. This part mainly includes research origin and background, concept definition of dropping out, research current situation of this study home and abroad, research significance, theoretical basis, legal basis and design of research.Part II: Investigation of countryside students' dropping out in junior middle school of sample county.Part III: Analyze the deeper reasons of causing countryside students' dropping out in junior middle school, such as education, society and law.Part IV: Point at these deeper factors, to put forward relevant suggestions on the aspects of education, society and law.
