The thesis draws forth the scholars' different attitudes about the orientation and transform of the schoolmaster-role of the primary and secondary schools from two views that the schoolmaster is professional and specialize: From the angle of making the strategic plan of the school, the headmaster should play the role of administrator and policy maker. The headmaster should have the image of organizer and the person working in public relations from the view of making good use of educational resources of within or outside the school and from communicating the school and the society and the family. The headmaster should have the image of educator and researcher from the pint of view of teaching and suiting to his status and developing school by scientific research. The primary is the ministrant from the role of serving for the teachers and students and from providing the safeguard for the education and teaching. The headmaster should have the image of the intellectual from constructing the characteristic of the culture of the school and building the atmosphere of the culture of the campus. During the new course of reform, some scholars locate the headmaster as the creator of high-grade resources and the researcher of promoting the development of the school and the compass of the judgement of the course in the school. The scholars unanimously think the headmaster of the primary and secondary schools must live up to the transform of themselves.
