This thesis's subject is the science education thought during the period of Former Kuomintang Government from 1927 to 1949. The research is carried out in three parts which include social condition of the thought, concept and value of science education, and methodology thought. Based on the research, we can gain a better knowledge of the characteristics of the science education during this period and their implications.This paper consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, it is gained the social condition of science education thought by probing into the policy and statute of Former Kuomintang Government and into the students abroad in modern times. The second chapter is about epistemology of science and science education gained by probing into the concept and value of science education , about the development by comparing with the science education thought of Culture Movement of the May Fourth Period. The part is the content about the methodology thought of science education. It is discussed about how to improve the science education in school and for the common people. The third chapter is the highlight of science thought in this period and also valuable.Based on the research about original works and papers, the paper draw some characteristics of the science education thought in period of Former Kuomintang Government. Firstly, compared with the thought of Culture Movement of the May Fourth Period, methodology thought of science education is the main character. Secondly, the appearance and development of science education thought for the common people is the another new direction of science education .Thirdly, the value of science education about saving the nation from extinction was stressed again and even overwhelmed the value of enlightening.According to the analysis of content above, the paper also gains some edification from the science education thought. The accurate view of value about science education should not be utilitarianism, but the cultivation of science spirit, science attitude and science method.
