Content: Classic Academies(Shu-yuan) are the advanced phrase of ancient private schools while the Academies sponsored and given lectures by virtuosos of Neo-Confucianism have their unique characters . The thesis mainly uses a method of ducument to find that the relationship between teachers and students in them differs greatly from that in state-run schools then by collecting historical data and documents about Classic Academies because of the following characters of Classic Academies of Song Dynasty: intercourse based on ethics morals ; respect for teachers and affection for students ; democratic and equal situation ; genuine cooperation ; mutual progress , etc. The characters in Classic Academies come into being for the reason of lenient and equal educational system ; free academic study and a large number of academic schools ; strict styles of study ; the study functions'emphasis on self-cultivation and benefit to the nation ; the charisma and noble thoughts and feelings of virtuosos of Neo-Confucianism ; the profound origin of kinship education ; the paper-made knowledge carriers , etc. The relationship between teachers and students in Classic Academies of Song Dynasty can be traced back on the thoughts and practice of ancient private schools of previous dynasties . The objective evaluation and analysis on the relationship in accordance with the reasons of relationship in Classic Accademies of song dynasty has a long-standing and significant revelation on the relationship between teachers and students in modern higher education .
