According to the law of the social development, the superstructure must adapt to the economic base. When both contradict each other, that is, the superstructure must change. As the economic system of China s socialist market is built and constantly perfected, higher education as the supermarket must adapt to the economic base, of course, the higher education needs changing greatly. The credit system as the beginning of the educational management system in higher education is of great significance in promoting further development of higher education.It is a very complex task to carry out the credit system which involves many social problems. Therefore, the credit system must be carried out according to the principle of complete development and promotion as a whole, which requires the government to change its functional role, to strengthen the macroscopically management of colleges and universities and to further enlarge colleges and universities right to run them by themselves, which is the key base and guarantee to carry the credit system well. This paper deals with the social causes from the problems existing in its process and through analysis of the background in which the credit system is carried out. After further expatiating on its principle and the main contents, the paper puts forward many ways to carry out the credit system well in China s colleges and universities in many aspects from transformation of the educational thoughts to perfection of the inside environment of China s colleges and universities. The paper makes an active and beneficial study of the credit system scientifically and effectively through analysis, induction and summary.
