| In the new century, the idea of lifelong education and lifelong study have been accepted universally by all past of the world. In this case extracurricular activities have become the important approach and content to build lifelong education system worldwide. During the 16th National Congress of the party in 2003, the objective of the struggle of learning society was put forward. In order to realize the objective, school education is essential.The key to the teaching reform is the reform of the courses, which is the most complicated system engineering. The educational system for elementary schools and middle schools consists of many subjects among which the problems existed in Chinese course still exist in the other courses. But the reason why people focus their attention on Chinese teaching is that Chinese is mother of the other subjects, which makes Chinese not only a course for transferring knowledge, being used as a tool and developing students' abilities but also a course with rich national culture, educational function to build students' souls and humanism as well. To transfer national culture and develop students' humanitarian character is the mission it shares. To learn Chinese well, we have to highly think of the education of extracurricular knowledge besides Chinese textbooks and the teaching. As the director Liu Guo Zheng of the National Middle School Chinese Teaching Research Association reported , Chinese is naturally connected with life, reflects life itself and serves life contrarily as a tool. Extracurricular activities can associate class Chinese with practical Chinese, create specific learning atmosphere and activities, turn Chineseteaching to a practical try to lean Chinese knowledge and practical capacity, which can reach the aim to build and develop students' Chinese using capability.Modern Chinese teaching has made extracurricular activities an important and indispensable part of it, which is not only an extension of the teaching but students' practical area as well.Evaluated by the rate of Chinese course in extracurricular activities and the nature of activities themselves, Chinese extracurricular activities fall into three typical models: Russian subjects-centered one, French cross-subjected one and Japanese activities-centered one. Inspite of the differences among them, their main ideas are to improve students' language manipulating standard and power.Despite some limitations in the extracurricular activities of our country, thirty recommended well-known literary works are required to be read compulsorily by middle school students after class, which was first stipulated definitely in the Outline of Chinese Teaching issued by the National Education Ministry in 2000. At present our country has issued some relative laws and stipulations, such as the Educational Laws and the Laws for protecting Non-Adults, but not a single law concerning social education. It is suggested that our government make and issue social educational laws and other relative law systems, which are related to extracurricular activities, regular and operational as well so that extracurricular education of our country can be developed healthily. |
