A Study On The Status And Countermeasures Of China's Tourism Higher Education

Tourism higher education refers to the multi-subject education which meets the demand of travel industry. It involves the related subjects such as the economy, the culture, the management, the history, the geography, the building, the language, the psychology and so on. It covers a very broad curricular field , usually includes the travel agency management,the scenic area management, the hotel management (including hotel industry and food and beverage industry management), the traveling geography, the historical culture, the traveling economy, the commercial conference (including business exhibition), the traffic control and so on. As to the education level, it belongs to the higher education scope, raises the talented person who can serve straight the modernization. As the education content, it is a system contains many kinds of specialized disciplines. As to the education goal, the graduates can serve as employees and the managerial talents for traveling enterprise. It fosters large quantities of qualified labor force at all levels.China's tourism education developed gradually with the reform and open policy. After China's entry to WTO, the tourism education cannot adapt itself to the international trend of tourism. In the past 2 decades, tourism education is mainly secondary education and vocational education. This situation is very hard to keep up with the rapid development of modern tourism. Therefore we should rely on the tourism higher education to foster senior personnel for the development of tourism.The paper analyzed the status and problems of China's tourism higher education, also elaborated the measures to solve these problems. The article in view of the above questions, proposed following solution measures: First, establishment the reasonable status of tourism subject; Second, definitude the education level; Third, the modernization of curriculum; Fourth, Strengthen the teachers troop; Fifth, emphasis practice teaching; Sixth, attach importance to tourism scientific research; Finally, cultivate well-known education brand. The paper proposed tourism universities should strengthen the cooperation with the outside.
