The Research Upon The Discipline Construction Based On The Theory Of Earth System Science For China University Of Geosciences

Discipline is a knowledge producing and organizing system, having been playing as the role of the basic platform for colleges and universities to realize their three main functions, and its formation and development has a long history. Discipline construction, which aims to design and implement the related discipline sites and discipline system, is the leading task in colleges and universities. Beginning with the discipline construction, colleges and universities are successfully putting forward their reform in the latest decade. The complexity, consistency, and the layout and level of a school's future development require the colleges and universities to pay more attention to their discipline construction and to carry out the relevant researches by combining the schools' development with the disciplines' present situation.As one of the representative top universities in the mainland of China, China University of Geosciences highly emphasizes the importance of its discipline construction. It has made great progress in extending its traditional good disciplines, cultivating and constructing the new cross-disciplines. Moreover, the school has developed from a structure of mono-discipline to a structure of multiple disciplines through taking geosciences as its unique feature and harmoniously developing its seven disciplines of science, engineering, arts, management, law and economy. As a result, it has improved the school's level, size and developing space to a new horizon. Now the scientific independent creativity becomes the dominant point for a country's development, so it has great significance in practice that how to meet the requirement of the disciplines' development, extend the disciplines' denotation, penetrate their connotation, activate their development, improve the school's teaching quality and research level, and even make further progress by stepping into the members of worldwide famous universities.
