Study On The Construction Of Marxism Theory Discipline Since The Foundation Of People's Republic Of China

The Communist Party of China has attached great importance to sinicization and academisation of Marxism Theory since its establishment(especially after Anti-Japanese War). After the founding of New China, Marxism became the supreme guiding ideology of the state and society as prescribed by the Constitution, which greatly promoted the discipline construction and talent cultivation of Marxism theory. In the following time, the construction of Marxism Theory Discipline was stagnant due to the effects from Culture Revolution and other mistakes. Until after the Reform and Opening up in 1978, the construction of Marxism Theory Discipline came back to life, developed rapidly and became increasingly formal. In1984, the major named Ideological and Political Education for Bachelor's degree was set up.In 1990, two majors named Ideological and Political Education as well as Marxism Education for Master's degree were founded. In 1988, the major named Marxist Theory Research for Doctor's degree was also established. So far, the three-level talent-training pattern of Marxism Theory for undergraduates and postgraduates has been formulated. During the period from 1990 to 2003, the name and structure of specialities belonging to Marxism theory were more reasonable after successive integration. With the formal implementation of the“Research and Construction Engineering for Marxist Theory” after 2005, Marxism Theory Discipline was first presented independently and turned into a first-class discipline under the categories of Law, which improved its discipline status significantly. This great initiative provided the unprecedented development opportunity in the nearly 10 years for Marxism Theory Discipline, meanwhile, it drove the innovation of ideological and political education in related universities as well as the teaching construction of ideological and political courses.Finally, it exerted a clear and positive impact on the construction of the discourse power of Chinese philosophy and social science leadership as well as the consolidation of the theoretical foundation of CCP.The thesis mainly studies the evolution and relative problems of the construction of Marxism Theory Discipline since the founding of New China, especially after the adoption of the Reform and Opening policies. Based on the possession of relevant information and research literature, the thesis explores the specific development and evolution of Marxism Theory Discipline in college establishment in universities, the establishment of political lessons, the construction of the teaching staff, the academic research development, the establishment of research institutions,the outward academic communication and other aspects since its founding. In addition, the thesis lays special stress on major achievements and existing problems under the“Research and Construction Engineering for Marxist Theory” after 2005 as well as some strategies for improvement in future.There are three parts in this thesis: an introduction, a text which includes four chapters and a conclusion.The introduction part mainly introduces the origin, significance, research status, thinking methods and difficulties of this research.The body section is composed of four chapters. The first chapter briefly tells the introduction of the concept of the discipline, the development of the academic system in China before the founding of the Republic of China and discussed the academic development of Marxism in the period of the Republic of China emphatically. The second chapter briefly reviews the historic development of Marxism Theory Discipline in China since 1949.With the Reform and Opening as demarcation lines, the author studies the two periods separately. In the third chapter, the thesis discusses the construction of the discipline after the implementation of the “Research and Construction Engineering for Marxist Theory”. Based on the acquired construction conditions of Marxism Theory Discipline, the author summarizes the main experience, major achievements and existing problems of the discipline construction in the last 10 years. The fourth chapter is about solutions to the problems,which proposes some countermeasures and suggestions from four aspects, including the discipline identity, the talent team, the academic exchange and the discipline security system.In the conclusion part, the author briefly summarizes some of the targeted points raised in the thesis and makes a prospect for the approaching construction of Marxism Theory Discipline.
