The innovation and application of knowledge characterizes the 21st century, which is the age of knowledge economy. In order to raise the quality of the workers, China carried out the plan of the course reform of the fundamental education early in this century. The previous teaching methods hindered the students' positivity and go-aheadism. Motivation is motive power of study. It is essential to motivate students during the course of physics teaching in junior middle schools.With the cognitive theories of motivation studied, the practice in the study is based on the theories of need, drive, self- regulation (self-efficacy, feedback) and attribution in the process of motivation. During the course of new standard in junior middle school physics teaching which was done to the two classes of Grade Eight that I taught, " knowledge and skills ","process and method", "emotion, attitude and value view" were targeted as the teaching goals, while the basic principle of new course physics was carried out. The students' cognitive drive was developed when their curiosity was stimulated in problems scenes. Setting learning targets, making "Study Summary", doing little experiments and making little manufacture, writing little papers and classroom inquiry teaching were applied to developed the students' Self-efficacy. Portfolio evaluation is used to help the students have a reasonable attribution. The feedback information from the qualitative evaluation has the function of regulating and helping that brings students' motive into being.Some research work was done in this study in order to enhance the students' learning ability and their scientific character and to develop their studying positivity and go-aheadism along with the students' subjectivity in physics study. Hopefully it is helpful for physics and other courses teaching in junior middle school.
