In view of composition monotony and its teaching shortcoming in current elementary and middle school students, Author thinks we should try to enhance students' writing ability with development of personalities and creativities by establish the students' principal status in composition teaching and advocating to show their individuality or characters in the writings. According to such thinking, this thesis tries to explore an effective idea and method to solve the present questions in writing mentioned above.It contains four chapters. The first chapter describes the current situation of teaching to the composition and analyzes the basic reasons why the composition monotony occurs by three aspects including students writings present situation (phenomenon or effect layer), teaching activity situation (operation or practice layer), and teachers' ideas and thinking (theory or idea layer). As far as students are concerned, it natives from the lack of their personalities or characters, but to teachers, it mainly caused by their conservative ideas. Also the thesis describes the necessity of developing students' personalities during teaching of writings. The second chapter discusses the definition, the goal and the value pursue of characteristic composition teaching from theoretic layer and analyzing around why to write, what to write and how to write three items. The third chapter evaluates the practice of teaching to present characteristic composition, describes the main composition training systems presently, and praise a new personal idea and thinking to characteristic composition teaching practice by three aspects include writing training order, teaching method and teaching procedure. The fourth chapter is focused on how to cultivate students' abilities to write a characteristic composition.
