Higher education for minorities is an indispensable part in the system of modern higher education. It plays an important role to advance the economy, improve the life, safeguard the security and strengthen the unity in the minorities. Whereas, the higher education for minorities is not par with the common higher education, with its special law. The study on it is beneficial to enrich the theory of higher education and develop the cause of the whole higher education.American Indians is minority in the United States. Their education, especially the higher education, possesses just a small proportion, and was ignored by the scholars for a long time. Therefore, American society hasn't attached the disadvantage and miserable condition of their higher education, and give little assistance in the cause of their higher education. The lack of education finance and teachers is always preventing American Indian higher education from further development. In recent years, Fortunately, a few researchers have come to apply themselves on American Indians higher education from the perspective of politics, economy or culture. They have achieved great achievement and provided certain valuable reference and materials. But they always focus their concentration on a certain aspect, lacking comprehensive and systemic study on the history of American Indian higher education in reservations.The study, with the methods of documentary analysis, history analysis, factor analysis and comparison analysis, tries to reveal the law of American Indian higher education in reservations through its history. And the study makes an example of tribally controlled community colleges which make success in American Indian higher education in reservations to probe into some basic studies of the higher education for minorities.
