Into the 21 century, the basic education in China has witnessed a profound reform in terms of its curriculum and textbooks. New teaching methods are experimented and implemented. New instructional models are explored for all courses of study. How information technology classroom teaching should be adapted to the demands of this new era is a major issue for current research. The New Curriculum Standard clearly promotes as its fundamental concept "an autonomous, cooperative and exploratory learning", which requires that all academic subjects should, on the basis of the characteristics of students' mental and physical development and the nature of their learning, address students' individual differences and their various learning needs, fully stimulate students' initiative and enterprise, stress students' abilities of questioning and consulting for learning, and advocate "an autonomous, cooperative and exploratory learning." Therefore, it is significant to explore and practice in information technology class an "autonomous, cooperative and innovative-exploratory" instructional model which accommodates the characteristics of information technology classes.This paper probes from both the theoretical and practical perspectives into the issue of constructing an "autonomous, cooperative and innovative-exploratory" instructional model in an information technology class.
