In our country, the students were be divided into liberal arts and science carry out teaching and learning in middle high schools. The phenomenon has resulted in no balance to improve all kinds of subjects.In maths, the maths quality of the students who study liberal arts is lower than that of the students who study science. It isn't good for our educational aim to train students in all round way--morally, intellectually and physically.In general, people think learning theory is the base of teaching theory in the theory and practice of teaching and learning. So from the psychology differences about maths study between the students who study liberal arts and the students who study science, I try to find out some factors of learning psychology, which will restrict the improvement of maths ability to the students who study liberal arts. I will go further into the ways of improving maths ability of the students who study liberal arts, which is not only the needs of the educational aim in quality education in our country but also the needs that learning theory can be used in the teaching practice.According to practical experience, this article chooses some factors of learning psychology which have great effects on maths study to the students who study liberal arts. And we research into these factors synthetically within a limited range. The content includes intelligence factors and non-intelligence factors. There is character, the attitude, achievement and self-confidence (faith), the anxiousness about exams (emotion), attention, the management about study and the supplementary means (the tactics and the method for study), the choice about information, organization and procession (cognize and understanding) , self-evaluation (metacognition) , creative thoughts and so on. After surveying 94 students who study liberal arts and science, analysing their differences, putting forword the ways to improve the students who study liberal arts and carrying out educational intervention, I draw some conclusions as follows:(1)When we test the hypothesis of differences about maths ability between the students who study liberal arts and the students who study science, the level of math ability to the students who study science is much higher than that to the students who study liberal arts.(2)In character , the attitude, the anxiousness about exams, the attention, the management about study and the supplementary means, the choice about information,...
