The importance of the higher engineering education is becoming more prominent. Curriculum setting receives more concern as the key links of personnel training of the higher engineering education. This thesis assign five parts analyze to U.S.A. and higher engineering education of our country. Part one have mainly explained basic conception such as engineering, higher engineering education, curriculum. Part two have carried on the survey to overview such as development course, train objective, typical curriculum setting that higher engineering education of two countries with the third part respectively mainly, point out the characteristic of higher engineering education of our country reflects as: emphasize the political directionality of personnel training , emphasize the study of professional basic curriculum, compulsory curriculum and proportion of the elective curriculum are incongruous in curriculum setting, difficult effective guarantee of quality of engineering practicing curriculum. The characteristic of higher engineering education of U.S.A.'s reflects as: emphasize the public basic curriculum, emphasize the interdisciplinary of professional curriculum is set up, practicing curriculum setting is very characteristic. Part four point out emphatically: the curriculum setting goal that U.S.A.'s higher engineering education lays particular emphasis on comprehension of student knowledge and practices the cultivation of ability even more, the curriculum setting goal that the higher engineering education of our country comparatively emphasizes the professional theory, and lack enough attention as to engineering consciousness and ability. Curriculum setting principle, U.S.A.'s higher engineering education laid particular emphasis on individual character and generality, the higher engineering education of our country stresses the whole unity even more. If U.S.A. curriculum setting that higher engineering education structure more to adopt "core curriculum + major + elective", the curriculum setting mode of higher engineering education of our country, for "basic curriculum + professional curriculum", the concrete curriculum setting structure is formed by "public basic curriculum + professional basic curriculum + professional curriculum ".The content of curriculum setting of U.S.A.'s higher engineering education embodies the characteristic of "wide foundation, synthesis, heavy practice", the content of curriculum setting of higher engineering education of our country reflects the characteristics of "the thick foundation, specialization, light practice". Part five mainly proceed from the angle of strengthening the engineering education; propose the suggestions of five respects to the higher engineering education of our country: 1. The higher engineering education makesa reservation in conformity with science, stress the engineering characteristic. 2. The higher engineering education should pay attention to strengthening scientific research and practicing, improving student's engineering consciousness. 3. The higher engineering education should make great efforts to build the benign and interdynamic internal and external engineering of school and practice the base. 4. The higher industry science universities and colleges should emphasis construct a team of teachers with engineering practicing. 5. Construct the idea principle which should be followed in curriculum setting of the higher engineering education, i.e. the guidance taking "engineering" thought as curriculum setting goal, the curriculum setting structure "synchronism", the curriculum setting content "stratification".
