As a commonly applied technology, mathematics helps people with the collecting, sorting and describing of information, establishes a mathematical model, as a result, solves problems. Future laborers should be applied talents with mathematical minds, knowledge, ability and confidence. As to secondary vocational schools, improving the teaching quality of mathematics calls for the improvement of the teaching mode. Math teaching not only gives the students knowledge, but also develops their consciousness and ability of using math. Therefore, it has become a task to help the students learn to analyze and solve problems mathematically through strengthening mathematics applying teaching. This essay first discusses the situation for secondary vocational schools to develop and the state of math teaching. It also states that strengthening mathematics applying teaching is an urgent task for secondary vocational schools' teaching innovation. Then it summarizes the study of mathematics applying teaching home and abroad, indicating that mathematics applying teaching shall be merged in everyday math teaching so as to enhance students' math applying consciousness and ability, as well as accelerating the study of professional courses. Last, it points out that mathematical modeling and the establishment of problem-solving mode is the major teaching mode to develop students' math applying consciousness and ability, and it carries on an in-depth discussion on establishing and carrying out the two teaching modes.
