It is full of competitiveness in 21st century. The competitiveness between the countries in the world forces on economic, knowledge, science and technology. While, all this competitiveness will lay on the competitiveness of high quality of talents. Graduate education is on the top of education system, the quality of graduate education symbolizes the quality of the talents in a country. While to select the pre-talents is the precondition of the being talents, the quality of the graduated students has much relations with the quality of the examinees who has been admitted to receive graduate education. So, to select the suitable examinees to receive the higher level education, every country unceasingly reform the mode of the entrance examination. In October, 2005, American Education Test Service declared that they will adopt the new general test which has been researched for 5 years.There are many problems in the present mode of the graduate entrance examination in China, which can't catch up with the age' need. In June, 2006, the ministry of education in China also declared that they will reform their mode of the graduate entrance examination.For the need of further reform in graduate entrance examination for master candidates, this dissertation first compares the mode of the graduate entrance examination for master candidates in China and America and analyze latest reform in the two countries, then gets some suggestion which is about further reform in the graduate entrance examination for master candidates in ChinaThis dissertation recalls the mode of the graduate entrance examination in both China and America history. From it we can see the is from nil to exist, from not perfect to perfect. Based on this, this dissertation compares the following aspects: the organizer, the content of the test, the grade system, and the use of the entrance examination score, and than, gets their each feature. As for the organizers, American organizers are more professional, while Chinese organizers are less professional, as for the content of the test, American Graduate Record Examination stress on the capability and the general quality of the examinees, while Chinese Graduate Entrance Examination stress on knowledge, more test-oriented. As for the grade system, American Graduate Record Examination is impersonal, comprehensive and transparent, while the grade system in our country is more subjective, as for the use of the scores, American graduate schools consider the scores of Graduate Record Examination as an important factor, but won't judge the quality of the examinees just through the scores, while the recruit people consider the scores as the most important factor.Contraposving these differences, this dissertation analyzes the reasons from high education system, high school assessment system, credit system and student assessment.After comparing and analyzing, we can see that the graduate enrollment and examination pattern of America is more superior than that of China, and China need to use the experience. In the end, this dissertation puts forward some reform tentative idea about graduate enrollment and examination pattern of China in order to make the system of China more perfect, more science, more reasonable and more effective.
