The Related Factors Of Career Development Of Community Youth In Shanghai

As a weak youth group, community youth have received more and more attentions from society. Most of the community youth in Shanghai are jobless, and with demands-improving employment market, their characteristics such as low school records, low skills, and high expectations make them more and more difficult to find a job, which will edge them gradually and may even make them become the risks of delinquents. Most of the interventions work for community youth in China mainland at present is job information intermediary, seldom involving career guidance or planning, and the interventions are lack of theoretical and practical study.Based on this, "Community youth career development questionnaires", which contains four parts as personal information, career development questionnaires, career barriers questionnaires and career self-efficacy questionnaires, is developed in this study. The questionnaires have high reliability and validity after tested. Using the questionnaires as a tool, by questionnaires test and personal deep interview, the study aims to discuss on community youth's career development,career barriers, and one important related factor——career self-efficacy, and wishes to providetheoretical reference and suggestions for community youth's career guidance work.This study takes community youth as the target group, taking college senior who will be graduated soon as comparison group I and youth who have been work for a whole year as comparison group II. Results show that: the career development of community youth is significant lower than the comparison group's; community youth's career development is fairly low, their career direction is uncertain, and they have only a little career explorations. However, the career satisfactions of community youth have no significant difference with these of comparison group. There is no significant difference between community youth' career barriers and these of comparison group. The main career barriers of the community youth are "self-understanding" and "dissatisfactions of work". Significant differences are found between community youth's career self-efficacy and these of comparison group, community youth's career self-efficacy is lower than that of comparison group. Community youth's career development and career self-efficacy are highly positive correlated. And their career self-efficacy can predict their career development, the high their career self-efficacy is, and the better career development they are.The study shows: we could try to improving community youth's career development by improving their career self-efficacy.
