Purpose: As a physiological index, Heart Rate did not only reflect exercise intensity and physiological stress, but also metabolic situation. Because it was practical, easy, available and with no hurt, it was universally used in training. Blood lactate was the end product of glycolysis. The production of p-lactic acid was related with the strength of myofibril contraction. Therefore, Exercise intensity could be estimated by the blood lactate at the minute after exercise. To measure the blood lactate was an important and scientific guidance to schedule training, estimate the level of training, and evaluate the fitness.Heart rate was unstable and influenced by lots of factors. So the conclusion resulted from the study of heart rate singly was unreliable. It was uneasy to monitor the blood lactate what costs much. Considering all above, we studied the relationship between the heart rate and the blood lactate and practiced them into mid and long distance running training which was necessary for monitoring and scheduling the training.Subjects and Methods: The sample included 14 mid and long distance running athletes from the middle school in WUHAN, with 8 boys and 6 girls. All of them were the second order athletes of China. 1,We tested the blood lactate during the training and protocolled the heart rate simultaneously. Basing on the data, we analyzed the relationship between the heart rate and the blood lactate and got the critical heart rate which was corresponded to the anaerobic threshold. 2,We put the heart rate which was corresponded to the anaerobic threshold into monitor the exercise intensity and tested again after 6 weeks. That was one cycle. We repeated it three times. And then, We evaluated the training and the availability of the relationship between the heart rate and the blood lactate. Results and Conclusions: 1,Heart rate was serious relative with the blood lactate when the athletes was trained by anaerobic threshold load, so heart rate could take the place of the blood lactate to monitor the training. 2,Testing the heart rate which was corresponded to the anaerobic threshold was a valid way to monitor the exercise intensity in the mid and long distance running training.
