| One of the weakest points in senior mathematics teaching is to develop the students' application consciousness and practical ability. Under the influence of examination-oriented educational system, how to create an environment for students to learn and use mathematics in, provide students with opportunities of self-study, and self-research, and improve their ability to raise and solve problems by themselves have become main context in the reform of mathematics teaching of senior students. This research confirms that the interest in mathematics can be motivated and the innovative consciousness and practical ability can also be well developed and improved by carrying out the effective mathematical modeling.This research had dealt with several aspects listed below.First of all, the definition of mathematical modeling in senior school has been strictly decided. The mathematics problems with four required characteristics can be labeled as the mathematical modeling problems of senior school. The required characteristics are as follows: 1. the problem must appear from the real life, thus having the true background and authentic data, 2. the conditions must be selective, 3. the models must be diverse, 4. the problem must be further developed.Then, through the survey and test on "the present situation of mathematical application ability of senior 1 students", the writer finds that their mathematical application ability is weak and hence needs strengthening. He also analyses the difficulties and obstacles of the students' working out the problems by means of mathematics application.Based on the analysis, a new system of target about mathematical modeling has been set up as the framework for teaching and evaluating the mathematical modeling in senior school. This system is divided into A, B, and C criteria as well as 12 sub-targets.Finally, a program has been designed, which can be carried out in the mathematical modeling activities in senior school. By establishing the mathematical modeling interest group, the program which mainly includes organizing modeling teaching, writing modeling assays and discussing modeling reports, proves to be of great value after being thoroughly analyzed and evaluated.Mathematical modeling teaching in senior school is a long-term, creative activity, requiring more concrete materials, research tasks and methods. Therefore, the writer will never stop researching and practicing mathematical modeling in senior school teaching. |
