The research aim of present paper is: 1. through the ways of questionnaire survey, interviewing, market visit etc, understanding the variety, quantity and the effect made by the teaching supplementary reading materials for the primary school students. 2. through the analysis of present situation of supplementary reading materials, investigating its actual influence to the teaching in primary school. And finding out prominent problems and making suggestions for the improvementCombining individual talking with the statistical results obtained by thequestionnaires, the current situation has been figured out in following five aspects: 1. whoever the teacher, the student or their parents, all thought that the supplementary reading material of teaching is a guidance material of studying, and its function lies in helping students to consolidate well in studying and achieving skilled grasping through the ration practice. 2.such usage of supplementary reading material of teaching is quite popular in higher grades of primary schools, and mainly concentrate on such three main subjects of Chinese , mathematics and English, and such choice had rarely been used in other subjects. 3. most of the questionnaires consider the supplementary reading material of teaching is necessary and helpful for studying, and also lot of questionnaires made by teachers dislike the phenomenon of similarity in contents and simple piece up of compiling. 4. Lot of teachers doesn't think there is enough supplementary reading material of teaching for new course lesions. 5. the application of supplementary material of teaching with the purpose of dealing with training for exam, in the long run, is harmful for the student's development, even though it is effective for raising their exam record in short time.Analyzing reasons of producing such problems, the key point is the shortage of evaluation system for the education. Several suggestions mainly to the management department of education have been pointed out : Don't considering score as only judgment in primary school, giving the right to the school for running at different ways; helping teachers to accept scientific education idea; enhancing the communication between education organization and the publishing house; guarantee the entrance of high-quality writers; and supporting the development of teaching...
