A Study On The Funds Collection Of China's Research Universities

The problem of funds for higher education, is an important research task in higher education economics field, and also is a difficult problem in practice that we have to face during running universities. In recent years, with our higher education scale expansion, the funds sufficient or not becomes a crucial factor which restricts the development of different universities, also a key factor affecting whether research universities realize their strategic target smoothly or not. At present, there are lots of researching outcomes in the field of funds for higher education, and the researchers respectively take the main bodies of funds resource and the channels of raising funds as the angle of view to discuss the effective ways to raise the funds for higher education. However, there are few studies carried on in view of the research universities. It has the extremely important theoretical significance and practical values to study the fund-raising problems in research universities and to tap their potential ability to raise more funds.This thesis first reviews the evolution process of higher education financial system, and then analyzes the present social environment of research universities, such as the influence of higher education globalization and industrialization on the universities. The thesis further demonstrates the condition of funds resources in the research universities including the change that different resources take the proportion in the total funds, the different ways of various research universities in different areas, and then analyzes these universities'potentials and main obstacles in raising funds. At last, in the light of the existing problems in raising funds of research universities, it provides some countermeasures for them to raise more funds.From the angle of financial resources, the school-running funds of our research universities mainly come from state financial allocations, students'tuition and social funds. After analyzing the total funds in research universities, we notice that research universities have little spaces in increasing financial allocations and students'tuition, therefore, in order to increase the financial input, the main emphasis should be put on how to attract social funds effectively. From the angle of ways to raise funds, research universities raise their funds mainly through government's financial input, researching funds, tuition, school-run industries, donation and so on. In the future, the research universities should adopt multiplex principles to raise their funds, and focus on attracting social finances.
