At present, schools are subject to attack, whose expressions are that the school traditional culture is seriously struck by all kinds of popular culture in recent society, the distracting power of the school culture is stronger, and the school culture lack its cohesion more and more quickly. All these factors have made school culture play a more important role in school development process. It is very important to newly discover the school culture and do research on their formation and reasons and it is helpful to make the main traditional value views of school culture work as the leading role. Therefore, it can unify the students and staff, make their life full of meaning, and make the school develop without interruption.Based on the methods of interview, field trips act and narrative research, this thesis takes Pudong High School as my research object, takes the evolution based on the development of substance culture, institution culture and spirit culture, and appreciates carefully the school culture and its construction process.Through researches, school culture is the concrete way in the staff and students' living state and lifestyle and it is demonstrated by the substance, institution and spirit, whose core is the attitude, value views, thinking process and behaviors based on its formation in their school life. Therefore, the formation of school culture is the process when the staff and students form their own attitude, value views, thinking process and behaviors. To get more details, we review the school culture based on the following three ways.Firstly, we review the formation of school substance culture. The school substance culture is one concrete part of the school culture and the school surface culture based on the research of substance form. On the one hand, it is the culture form which can be seen and touched in the school, and it is the substance basic of the existence and development of school culture. On the other hand, it is the carrier of the core of school culture, and it embodies the certain value objective, taste order and so on.Secondly, we review the formation of school institution culture. During the process of school culture construction, the institutionalization process of school is not only a process of establishing and strengthening regulations and institutions, but also a process to foster school values among school staff and students. So, we should give school institution a soul, and make efforts to form the school institutional culture.Moreover, we review the formation of school spirit culture. The element and characteristic of school spirit culture begin in the early of the school foundation and they slowly form with the time goes. The casual and subconscious school concept and value views will be shared by all the staff and students in the school, so that it gradually form the school core value views, which will be attacked more and more difficultly.Finally, we focus our research on the analysis of the formation of Pudong High School and think over it to give some constructive suggestion to construct the school culture. To be a conclusion, our aim for school culture construction is to form our common way of doing things by such a process, remolding our school identity, looking for a sense of community, a sense of home.
