The primary purpose of this study was to explore the time management of preschool director and its effectiveness. The research comprised the essence, the current situation, the problem root-cause of the time management of preschool director and the strategies aimed to improve the effectiveness were proposed at the end.Both qualitative and quantitative research methods were used. Both interview and observation were used to explain the essence and rules of the time management of preschool director, the founding was used as a prototype compared to the current situation. A time management rating scale instrument, interview and observation were used to investigate the current practice of the time management of preschool director.The result indicates that the time management of preschool director is a dynamic process where their limited time is managed. It is director's self-management and the integration of their management skills as well. There are four distinguishing features: their time investment focus on people affairs, their management process is the matter related to team building, their time investment and return are not measured only by quantities but also long term achievement and their tangible performance and intangible relationship need to be balanced as well.The ineffectiveness of the time management of preschool director was affected by a prevalent neglect of early childhood, the unreasonable meeting requirements and paper work from the external, the director's paradigm, their lack of courage to say no and their less time-spent on time-management learning. Based on the key findings, the strategies aimed to improve the effectiveness were proposed. The rules of the time management are being proactive, effectiveness- oriented, putting first thing first, thinking win-win, balancing and being innovative. The key action-strategies are the paradigm shift, the enhancement of managing boss and building a learning-team of time management.
