With college graduates' job-hunting getting much more difficult day by day, many scholars pay more attention to correlation analysis of the relations between college graduates' employment and social security. This article embarked on an exploring research which explained social security consciousness form college graduates' own subjective perceptions. In this research, qualitative research method was used as a mainly method. The cases were twelve undergraduates and postgraduates of Shandong University. We gained the case data by the semi-structured in-depth interviews, and analyzed the case data by category analysis methods.According to the logical structure of social security consciousness, this article divided social security consciousness of college graduates into three parts: social security cognition of college graduates, social security demand of college graduates when they were hunting jobs and the reasons for social security demand of college graduates.Social security cognition of the informants reflected by their cognition of connotation, effect and duty on social security had some difficulties, for these three areas above were influenced by the informants' personal experience, special circumstances and so on. Compared with social security cognition of undergraduates, social security cognition of postgraduates was deeper, clearer, and more extensive. When the informants were hunting jobs, their social security demand was based on their social security cognition and embodied by their attitudes of social security. The final decision that the informants would insist or abandon their interests of social security showed that some objective reality limited social security demand of the informants. Under a certain salary and job-hunting hour's anticipation, the informants' critical points of social security indicated that their social security demand was limited by some social external conditions, such as the lack of social security system, the pressure of college graduates' job-hunting, social security choosing right limited by the specialty. Therefore, social security demand of postgraduates was intenser than social security demand of undergraduates, and what's more, the female informants could abandon their interests of social security easily. The formation of the inherent causations was mainly influenced by the informants' anticipation of personal living security and social status. Some informants thought social security could ensure their personal living demands, steady their daily working states, improve their investment and consumption, and some thought social security was the symbol of social status, which could bring them the ascendant feeling. Therefore, the different anticipations generated the different forms of social security demand.Through the analyses above, we described social security consciousness of college graduates, and enriched the research of correlation analysis of the relations between college graduate's employment and social security.
