A Study On Work-Family Conflict About Coaches In Sports Teams In China

Work-family conflict is a form of inter-role conflict in which the role pressures form the work and family domains are mutually incompatible in some respects. Participation in the work(family) is made more difficult by virtue of participation in the family (work) role (Greenhaus&Beutell,1985). This study was examined the relationship among work and family conflict, work-family conflict, work-family linkage and consequences variables of work-family conflict. Date from 192 coaches who come from national sports teams and provincial sports teams, ect. in Beijing, WuHan, ChengDu, and LanZhou.The results indicated:(1)Work conflict is far strong than family conflict, work→family conflict is far stronger than family→work conflict. Work conflict is negatively related to family→work conflict, family conflict is positively related to work→family conflict, family→work conflict is negatively related to job performance. Implications of these results are discussed that family conflict and family→work conflict can decreasing the effects of job satisfaction.(2)Education and situation have significant effects of salary. Spouse' flexible work hours is negatively related to work conflict. The marital situation of coaches were written divorce and separation have far stronger family→work conflict than married and single. Career satisfactory is positively related to education, work hours a week, salary, and is negatively related to family conflict. Especially, married coaches have the highest career satisfactory. The family→work conflict and work conflict have significant difference by salary. The coaches whose salary were in 1500 or lower 1500 have highest family→work conflict.(3)Coaches work conflict is significant positively related to work→family conflict, national coaches have lower work conflict and higher job performance than advanced coaches and lower coaches. Family→work conflict is negatively related to situate. There is a trend that the higher situate the lower family→work conflict. Coaches work conflict can moderating by spouse' flexible work hours.(4) Positive spillover, compensation are significant positiv ely related to job satisfactory. Advanced coaches have more positive spillover than lower coaches.Through the discovery of this research, we consider that to cope with work-family problems, we should try to suggest related strategies from some aspects as follows: individual, family and organization.
