The new round of curriculum reform of basic education requires us to establish a new teaching concept: education should be completely student-oriented and quality-oriented, and we should not only develop student's foreign language knowledge and their comprehensive language use capabilities, but also should pay attention to their emotions, attitudes and values as well as their strategies for learning English. We should respect students' subject statuses and their individual differences, and promote their language use capabilities through the learning strategies of experience, participation and cooperation. Furthermore, we should make full use of all kind of curriculum sources which are close to their lives. We can meet the requirement of curriculum reform by adopting life teaching method in our English teaching practices. Appropriate teaching methodology will play a very role in implementing the life teaching of junior middle school English in an effective and wide way under the circumstance of the new curriculum reform.Although there have been some researches on the life education and some discussions about the English teaching methodology, the research on life teaching of junior middle school English is not enough and systematic. By the means of literature research, theoretical research and case research, this paper tries to trace its theoretical sources and practical requirements, and put forward the definition of life teaching of English and its features. And then it will propose the implementing methods and the principles of evaluation. By doing these, it hopes to make an attempt to explore the life teaching of English.After making a deep research on the foreign language education reform and English teaching methodology in China and abroad, and reflecting upon the present situation of English teaching in China, this paper points out that our present English teaching is far away from students' practical lives and cares little about the cultural background and the students' experiences, and thus proposes that the life teaching of English should be implemented. With the theoretical basis of education, linguistics and psychology, life teaching of English attaches great importance to the status students in learning, the set-up of situation in teaching process and the language use and communicative capability. Through the situational method, communicative method, cooperative method and activity method, the idea of life teaching of English can be implemented into the English teaching process. Meanwhile, we should remove the misunderstanding of life teaching of English, and try to promote the research of life teaching of English in the future.
