The citizens'quality is the key to the prosperity and development of a nation and the root sustaining a country and nation to continue develop as well. Geographic literacy is an important part of the citizens'quality, which is regarded as the core idea either in national"Geographic Curriculum Standard of Full-time Compulsory Education (Experimental Draft)"or"Geographic Curriculum Standard of Ordinary High School (Experimental Draft)". In this connection, this paper focuses on high school geographic literacy and goes deeply into the issue of fostering the geographic literacy of high school students at present time from various angles e.g. the analysis of the meaning of geographic, the investigation and analysis of the geographic of high school students and how to improve the geographic of high school students etc. This paper composes of three parts.Part I is about the meaning and composition of the geographic of high school students, introducing the concept of scientific and analyzing the geographic of high school students from an angle of theoretic analysis; which on the basis of this, it analyzes the meaning of scientific literacy first to discuss the meaning and composition of geographic literacy. Then, it defines the educational content of the geographic literacy of high school students and makes a contemplation of the current high school geographic literacy education.Part II is about the analysis of the existing geographic literacy of high school students at present time, which compared to Part I, it makes an investigation and analysis of the geographic literacy of the senior high school students in Shenyang City from a perspective of actual investigation and by means of a questionnaire, making a comparison of the geographic literacy of key schools and non-key schools students, liberal arts students and science students, and boys and girls, exploring the existing major problems.Part III is about the strategy and contemplation for the enhancement of the geographic literacy of senior high school students, which it builds on the theoretic study and practical analysis in the preceding two parts to bring forward the fundamental strategy to foster the geographic literacy of high school students by starting from the educational practice of high school.
