Chinese reading teaching is one of the main approaches to cultivate student's literature aesthetics and to enhance student's ability to appreciate literature. Fiction, as a comprehensive type of literature, plays an essential role in reading instruction. It is the current situation that student's interest to fiction is declining, the aesthetics and appreciating level even the basic reading ability is in a low level. It is for sure that there are problems in reading teaching. Therefore, the thesis summarizes the problems existing in fiction reading teaching, on the base of which proposes some approaches about how to teach and what to teach about fiction in text books.Inquiry learning, based on the theory of constructivism, respects student's original knowledge and experiences, and holds that students inquiry and construct new knowledge system independently, which accords with literature acceptance and context analysis in aesthetics. Considering all of these, inquiry learning theory is utilized to optimize fiction reading teaching and three teaching approaches are brought forward in this thesis.Firstly, to bring in other forms of art to fiction reading teaching. The other forms of art here refer to music, picture and movies and so on. The comparison of other forms of art with fiction offers an opportunity for students to understand fiction as a form of literature as well as to learn to appreciate literature and cultivate literature aesthetics.Secondly, to insist on the principle of promoting reading by writing and the combination of the two skills. Various methods can be synthesized to enhance student's understanding of fiction. Appropriating perspectives should be found to inquiry and learn in accordance with the characteristics of fiction.Thirdly, to advocate student-student debate in class. Debate is one of the main methods to enhance student's involvement and to activate atmosphere. The debate-suitable text characteristics and the notice for the use of debate in fiction class teaching are promoted in this thesis.All the three approaches are analyzed with cases. The teaching principles are given at the end.
