The Forming Of Discipline In University

In the background of establishing innovation-oriented countryand high level universities, the basic organizational unit of universityneeds to be not only passing on knowledge efficiently but alsoinnovating and applying the knowledge. It is needed urgently tochange the way of the division and organization of knowledge-basedlabor in the basic organizational unit of university. The new wayshould be beneficial to the innovation of knowledge and based on theclassification of knowledge itself.As a kind of basic academic organizational unit of university,discipline is the carrier of the basic organizational unit of universityactivities. It is also an elementary organization to reflect andimplement three functions of higher education. The forming ofdiscipline is the foundation of the. existence of discipline. The regularpattern of the forming of discipline is an essential sector of the law ofthe growing of discipline. This dissertation study the regular pattern of the forming of discipline based on the theory of organizational lifecycle with a case study of ZheJiang University of Technology.This dissertation holds that the symbol of the forming ofdiscipline is to have a certain research target, to possess essentialmaterial,capital and members, to form certain organizationalstructure, to have certain output, and was acknowledged by thecollege. The forming of discipline was effected by the internal law ofthe development of knowledge, and was effected by the studyinterests of scholars and the influence of the leader of the discipline.This process was also effected by the demand of the society, thesupport from government, the planning of the college and theecological environment. The forming of discipline has four ways:naturally evolution, internal differentiation, catalysis by externalforce, planting seeds actively. This dissertation also gives strategies inthe forming of discipline.
