With the advent of a knowledge-based economy, higher education from the margins of society to the center of personal, social and national development plays an increasingly important role. After the founding of the PRC, China' s higher education basically followed on the Soviet model, in addition, the highly centralized system of economic and political constraints, the autonomy of higher education institutions has not been much attention. After reform and opening up, implementation and expansion of autonomous management of universities increasing interest and attention and has become an important part of the higher education system has made great achievements. However, due to the inertia of the existing system of higher education management and the impact of the current political system reform has lagged behind, China fail to implement the autonomy of higher education institutions to expand degree, and we were faced with a "decentralization" and "power" is out of line with the dilemma. This paper discusses the implementation and expansion of our colleges and universities from sponsoring the basis of autonomy; Analysis of the Autonomy of Higher Education Institutions and pointed out that the crux of the problem; According to China's conditions, referring to Western countries on the basis of relevant experience to ensure that the university autonomy draw some useful lessons. Finally, to further clarify and expand our implementation of the specific content of the university autonomy, and applying the principles of management from the management of universities and university colleges and universities how to manage the two perspectives described how their achievement, with a view to provide valuable reference for the reform of higher education in China today.
