Tolerance is and intelligent and wise life manner, behavior way and outlook on life based on rational aware of world's multiplicity, truth relativity, the limitation of ability on understanding truth as well as humanity's complexity and contradictory. It is melted into profound ponder into the society, life and human nature embodied with rich, profound mental connotation. Thus, tolerance now has become the important criterion to deal with interpersonal relationship in the society, has become the spiritual subject in the modern democratic society.Education's value pursuit is to raise people into the main body of social, history activities, which should promote to realize students themselves candidly through mind communication between subjects, so both education's goal and its"home to return"are " person". However, the person raised by education which is not an abstract person, not one without significant connotation, human's concreteness , vividness, distinctiveness, irrepeatability have decided richness, multiplicity , differentiation ,contradictory, complexity and infinite possibility to produce of education's objects. Thus, faced every bright life, education should love and concern with humane spirit embodied tolerance, establish tolerant and relaxed room for all students'development, guide them to fully understand themselves, to make their individuality widely known, to perfect their personality, to pursue life's significance, to promote their spirit, to form their unique lifestyle, to realizes their unique life value, to unfold their humane glory out of the ordinary and write their unique ,beautiful life. In view of this, I chose "A study of Tolerance Education" as the topic of my thesis. This paper can be divided into four parts:The first part: understanding tolerance. Firstly, the paper has logically gradually progressively defined the concept of tolerance from three the levels in the behavior characteristics of tolerance, the mental connotation tolerance and the in-depth quality of tolerance. Then, from three aspects of world's multiplicity, Truth's relativity, the limitation of human nature, that is to say, from the aspects of philosophy ontology, epistemology and the theory of human nature, the author has explained to the rationality of tolerance. Then the author elaborates that tolerance has caused humanity to move towards the civilization, to lighten intelligent mind, to richen the world's value connotation. Finally, while defending for the validness of tolerance, the author has established the boundary of tolerance: fairness.The second part: examination into the current situation lacking tolerance in education. In this part, the author reconsiders, combs all kinds of performances lacking tolerance in the current education.: the life blueprint of becoming a useful adult - to wrest away life's independent choice; the bamboo fence shackled into the scientific world- vanishing life's initiative creation; sacred moral idealism– twitching life's living base; excessively strong consciousness of teacher role - constraining life's instinct of being free.The third part: the theoretical reconsidering into the lack of educational tolerance. Based on the analysis of the current situation lacking tolerance in education in the second part, the author carries on systematical theory reconsidering and analyzing the reasons: the enticement infatuated to "one" - "identity rules difference" strangles tolerance; the unreality lost to "knowing everything" - "the wise scold the simpleminded audiences" expels tolerance; the narcissism immersed to "being God and the saint" -"the nature of divine constrains the state of vulgar " dispels tolerance. In another word, the view of "pursuing for the same"in ontology, the theory of "the entire knowledge" in epistemology, the emotion of"theory of "becoming the god" in the theory of human nature have caused to be intolerant, which is the deep thought root for lack of tolerance in education. The fourth part: the theoretical construction of tolerance education. Based on the analysis above, the paper carried on the he theoretical construction of tolerance education. Firstly, the author proposes the view that education needs tolerance on the foundation of student's "difference", "imperfectness". Then, the author elaborates the value demand of tolerance education, which include nurturing students'free spirit, molding students'unique individuality, casting students'creativity and promoting students'full-scaled development. After that, the author probes into some valid ways of carrying out tolerance education from the aspects of establishing productive thought of tolerance education, using education's moderate "forfeit", progressive students appraise, difference teaching, dialogue-type teaching, the moral education of returning life world, formatting new "me - you"-typed relation between teachers and students. Finally, the author establishes the boundaries of tolerance education. That is to say, education should keep the tensity between individual understanding and "mutualrecognition", freeness cannot leave the value undertaking of the just and genial, initiative should be guided in value by teachers.In brief, education melted into the meaning of tolerance can be the education with true attention to students'individual life, truly human education. Tolerance education can truly cause student's free spirit, unique individuality and creativity to comprehensively develop; tolerance education should become the rational pursuit of contemporary education.
