As the core of teacher professionalization, teacher professional growth is important, especially in rural areas of our country which relates with the success of elementary curriculum change nowadays. The first thing confronted with us in the reform of education, is how to find a foothold in the reality of rural areas and develop it's advantages to boost rural teachers'professional growth. Now there has been many research focused on this point, but most of their content just expounds wholly, and many of them only use macro-method including of document analysis and case study which is not available in micro-level. On research method, most of it adopt analytical document method to explain a problem from tier of macroscopic . Once dealing with tier of microcosmic , it have looked like being unable to do as well as one would wish.Then ,these generally suitable studies mostly can not suit specific area, even many objects. Based on this , the author makes a full-scale study about the status quo of rural teachers'professional growth. At first, author choosed the rural teachers of XinMi City as significant testees, and carried out a questionnaire and interview among them. Secondly, through statistical analysis of the questionnaire data , combined with the interview data, the first step has probed out local rural teachers'situation in professional development ,and has analysed the problem existing in the course of boosting rural teacher professional growth. Finally, aimed at these problems, tied to local realities, the author has brought forward a few suggestions about how to boost rural teachers'professional growth.The thesis has four parts:Part I has set forth the relevant concept of teacher professionalization and teacher professional growth. The first step is to make a simple retrospect around the teacher professionalization in the world and the homeland; Then, research makes a definite concept of teacher professional growth, and describes its elements based on self-understanding, according to the expressions of teacher professional growth home and abroad.Part II has discussed the urgency of teacher professional growth in the background of new course. Comments mainly come from three aspects: (一)The new course gives a challenge to teacher professional growth, special field having brought forward new s , requires teachers to make corresponding changes in their educating concept, behavior and teaching knowledge;(二)There is a turning point of teacher professional growth under new course, as the reform of course havs provided driving force , direction and new approach for teacher professional growth;(三)The urgency of teacher professional growth under new course requires us to find a way fit to rural teacher professional growth as soon as possible.Part III is the investigation on rural teacher professional growth under new course which begins with simple explanation about the process. Author makes a statistic analysis of what having been collected to conclude a difference analysis of different condition of teacher professional growth. Then combined with the questionnaire's content and the interview result, research makes analytical explanations respectively from teacher's professional attitude , educating concept professional knowledge, ability and professional growth way. Finally, research reaches the problems and causes existing in rural teachers'professional growth, and sums up the current situation of rural teachers'professional growth of XinMi City.Part IV has brought forward some suggestions specifically about how to boost rural teachers'professional growth which mainly revolves in five aspects:(一)Take perfect educational policy, law and regulation as pillar. Reform rural teachers'wage system , and improve rural teachers'material benefits ; Improve rural teachers'personal administrating system ,and optimize rural teaching body structure; Strengthen rural teachers'cultivating organization and administration, and set up and perfect inspiriting and restricting mechanism.(二)Take various nimble training way as route. Take inservice cultivation organized by all level educating departments as basis,and take school-based cultivation as mostly combined with other various cultivating way .(三)Take omnidirectional resource conformity as roof.(四)Take rational valuation mechanism as checkout. Establish correct valuation system according to the school teaching target and the teacher, Insist on all-round , open , impartial principle in working out appraisal standard and being put into effect and give corresponding pay and encourage and reward after valuation. (五) Take rural teachers'sustainable development as ultimate purpose.Rural teacher's quality and the rural education mass are vitally interrelated. Exploratiing an approach suitable for local realities to boost rural teacher's professional growth,is benefitial to the fleetness and health of rural education's development ,and is conducive to the proceeding of the elementary educating course reform. The author has only assumed a preliminary research also to this problem , still may show solicitude for this problem hereafter ,and has striven for the new request of resolving the deficiency of this study and reaching in follow-up research.
