International Understanding Education is a kind of educational idea that, through the urges of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and with various kinds of educational methods, the educated could accept foreign cultures as well as maintain its own culture. The thought becomes one of the basic beliefs of Chinese educational reforms. There has good conditions to penetrating the idea into practice of middle school history teaching. But the attentions paid to the International Understanding Education so little by the teaching circles that the students cannot adapt the situation of the globalized world. Therefore, the discussion that to add the International Understanding Education into the middle history teaching, has a practical significance.In the thesis, the author tries, in the first chapter, to give an acceptable definition of the International Understanding Education, and to explain the reason and necessity to penetrating International Understanding Education with analyzing the theories of education and history. In the second chapter, after studying the history of Chinese history education outlines, the author provides some experiences and lessons. In the third chapter, the author, depending on several years working experiences, comes to show the practical ways of doing the International Understanding Education in the middle school, including the instruction forms, bilingual teaching and comparative teaching methods, and exploiting actively the resources of lessons and developing the school-base classes. To sum up, these methods is aim to build the international understanding ideas of students.
