At present, America is the most developed country in highereducation of the world. Although its history is not long, with its highereducation influenced by Britain and Germany and its national situationcombined, America has developed and formed a peculiar model ofhigher education from transplant, transcend to innovate. That is thepractical education of America, which came into existence subsequenelythe traditional higher educatiion of Britain and Hongbao mode ofGermang. It has made great contritutions to American economy andsocial progress, and it also has set a good example for other countries.Now the contemporary education of china is confronted with theconstruction of modernization and challenge of generanization, and alsoneeds to seize oppommities to realize the dream of the first-classuniversity. How to face up to the challenge and grasp opportunities?Without doubt, learning advanced patterns from other countries is aexcellent way. Researches on its birth, development, execution andanalysis of its on foundation will help us understand the pattern ofAmerica theoretically and practically, they will play a positive role inevolving higher education of the practical mode and promoting its reformand development.The thesis consists of four parts. The first part narrates the generalidea of the practical model of America and briefly introducesinternational and domestic research results about it. The second partanalyses its philosophic basis and social background. The third one refersto its historical process of evolvement, and respectively tells of itsbudding, establishing, and developing stages, and tells about itsreflective, criticial, and revolutionary stages. The last part emphasizesresearches on the present situation of its development and influence.
