Self-study of Chinese is a basic ability of senior middle schoolstudents. How to strengthen the guide to students' self-study is commonlyconcerned with a great number of Chinese teachers. Compared withstudents from big cities, the senior middle school students from minorityautonomous counties have much lower language level. There are manyreasons about the present situation. Undoubtedly, the ability of self-studyof Chinese is one of important reasons. To improve such students' abilityand interest from minority regions, I have gone deeply into them anddone a full research into their present situation of ability of self-study.According to much research work, the article is finally divided into fiveparts.Part 1 is an introduction and summing up of documents. This part isto indicate the reasons and fundamental perspective of this article. Part 2is the theoretical basis of developing self-study of Chinese. This part is tofind out the direction of research, using the theoretical basis. Part 3 is theresearch into the present situation. It uses many research ways such asresearching wholly and individually, asking and talking to know about thesenior middle school students' present situation of self-study fromminority autonomous counties. Part 4 is to analyze the result of theresearch and find out the reasons that can influence the development ofability of self-study. Part 5 is to talk about how to develop the ability ofself-study of Chinese of the students from minority autonomous counties.The last words state the fundamental opinion of the article and somedeficiencies.
