Research On The Application Of Edutainment In EFL Teaching In Primary School

As a type of teaching media, the primary English edutainments provide a chance for primary English teachers to maintain their pupils' interests in learning English and optimize their teaching. Study on the application of digital educational game in primary school English teaching can guide the teachers in game screening and game-based teaching.Based on the literature review and the survey of the present situation of the combination of edutainments and EFL teaching in primary school, the thesis discusses the taxonomy, selecting principles and using methods of the present primary English edutainments. Finally, a practice is conducted in Shantou Jinhui School which is to explore the suggestions of using digital educational game in primary English words teaching.The study indicates that: (1) the present primary English edutainments can be divided into four types according to different content of EFL teaching in primary school and three selecting principles are given;(2) there are two methods of using primary English edutainments in EFL teaching in primary school. Finally, the study gives some suggestions when using the primary English edutainments to teach words in EFL teaching in primary school.This thesis consists of six chapters. In Chapter One, some general information of the research is introduced. Chapter Two is the literature review. Chapter Three, Chapter Four and Chapter Five are the main part of this thesis. Chapter Three is the report about the survey. In Chapter Four, an intervention of teaching practice is designed. And Chapter Five is the progress of the teaching practice. Chapter Six is the conclusion of the thesis and makes some discussions on the future study.
