Vocabulary is the basic element of language and the skillful use of that is the essential ability for people to communicate, so the vocabulary teaching in the junior high school should be given more attention. I find that although vocabulary plays a very important part in English teaching, methods for teaching vocabulary are still seldom and learning efficiency is very low. This article will mainly study the English vocabulary teaching in junior high school and research vocabulary teaching methods under the guidance of the multiple intelligences theory, as well as problems for that in practical use.Two classes, a total of more than 100 students, of Chongqing Coral middle school will be the research subjects. The effect of multiple intelligences theory in practical use will be analyzed through some questionnaires before the experiment and some tests after the experiment. This article focuses on three points. The first is the current vocabulary teaching methods and problems in our country. The second is whether the students adapt to the teaching methods under the guidance of multiple intelligences and the third is the efficiency of the multiple intelligence teaching method.I get the following conclusions through the student questionnaires, observations and test results that the current domestic vocabulary teaching methods are boring and inefficient and students argue this traditional teaching method. And the teaching methods under the guidance of the multiple intelligences can attract more students to participate in the class and their grades can be improved.
