Research On Theme-based Learning Resources Authoring Tools Designed For Teachers

Integrate ICTs into curriculums is a trend of the development of Education Informatization. The theme-based inquisitive learning has become an effective method for the integrations. The success of theme-based inquisitive learning depends on rich and appropriate learning resources and well-designed exploration activity. But now the lack of suitable resource authoring tools which designed for teachers has impeded the work of theme-based learning resources' creation.The purpose of this study is to design and develop a tool to support teachers in authoring theme-based learning resources. The outputs of the authoring tool are special-topic-websites and WebQuests, which were the two typical theme-based learning resources. The outputs should conform to the characteristics of certain teaching courses.Based on a careful investigation, the author analyzed the actual demand of the teachers for this tool, and then compared the functions of the existing mainstream tools used by the teachers in order to construct the basic structure and the functional model of the authoring tool. Finally, the tool was developed with a Web-Work framework under java environment.
