Research On The Reform Of System Of Junior Secondary School Graduation And Promotion Examination

In China, the Junior Secondary School Graduation and Promotion Examination (JSSGPE) is regarded as a most fierce rival exam which has potential influences upon the compulsive education. And it is also regarded as having a closed relationship with so called Teach-for-Test education because of its importance towards the student's enrolling into the senior high school.Nowadays, the JSSGPE has bottlenecked the advancement of Basic Education Curriculum Reform. This article make a brief review on the development of JSSGPE during the year of 1993 and 2003, and points out that it is a history of gradual change from centralization to decentralization. Though efforts have been made on such as the transformation of the examination subjects, evaluation forms and soforth, it still is not easy to change the situation to which the students have to face.In 2004, as part of the Basic Education Curriculum Reform, a new reform on the system of senior-high-school enrolment has been kickstarted to make some change. But problems still are there, a lot has to been thought over thoroughly and then make progress. This article argues that the new reform on the system of senior-high-school enrolment should make efforts on the transformation of examinationsubjects, on the model of test and also on introducing organizations which are setup specially for test.
