With the establishment of the strategy of invigorating the country through science, technology and education and implement of educational course's reform, inquiry teaching has become one of the nucleus-topics. Inducting students to probe into courses through inquiry teaching is also listed in the Teaching Guiding Principles. "The PE teaching guiding principles for all common universities and colleges in China" clearly points out: giving full play to the main role of students and giving full play to the leading role of university teachers, calling for opening, inquiry teaching positively, opening up the time and space of PE course.The study which is based on the requirements of "the PE teaching guiding principles for all common universities and colleges in china" and aiming at the current situation in PE teaching makes a survey of Taijiquan. The experience and problems in the teaching process of Taijiquan are summarized. I consider that the traditional giving and accepting teaching method can't fully carry out the teaching concept of "giving full play to the main role of students". The conventional teaching mode which lays particular stress on skill impartation but neglects the process of knowledge gaining has difficulty in realizing meaningful learning. Based on reference, investigation and experiment, firstly, we make a survey of inquiry studying. Secondly, we discuss the nature of inquiry teaching and the basic thoughts of inquiry teaching design. Thirdly, the skill and theory of the Taijiquan are analyzed. Finally, based on the inquiry teaching theory and combining the skill characters of Taijiquan with rules of PE teaching, we divide the process of practice into three stages that is "basic knowledge- understanding- spiritual introjection". The inquiry teaching mode of "free inquiry——staggered introjection" is proposed. In the process of teaching experiment, the following guidance is designed as inquiry topic, that is:·the harmony theory of Taijiquan——Negative element and Positive element·the pose principle of Taijiquan——Relaxation and ·the movement principle of Taijiquan——Swift·the spirit principle of Taijiquan——spiritual emptiness and calmnessBased on the theory and combining it with the practical need of teaching reform, the inquiry teaching principles and method are systematically illustrated. The researching thoughts and the method of practice for the teaching variation are provided here. The inquiry teaching mode of Taijiquan proposed here is feasible and maneuverable and will play an important role in improving teaching quality.
