Experiment is very important in physics teaching. On one hand, physics is a subject based on the experiment. On the other hand, experiential teaching cultivates talented persons who can adapt themselves to the needs of innovation in the twenty-first century; it is not only the basis of physics teaching, but also the contents and method of it. With the development of national reform of curriculums, it is very significant to strengthen the middle school experiment teaching of physics and foster the students experimental ability. However, As far as the middle school experiment teaching of physics is concerned, we physics instructors are supposed to take present problems, experimental disadvantages and some obstacles into consideration, all of which are related to the planned effects of physics experiments. So it is necessary to analyze and research high school experiment teaching situation in the City of Baotou.Great differences on the viewpoints and teaching behaviors can be found after a wide view of domestic and international physics experiment teaching.How can we find the good qualities and bad qualities of the experiment teaching in Baotou? The author made a questionnaire and investigated the teacher's teaching situation of experiment and the students' learning situation of experiment at the laboratories of different kinds of schools (three key high schools and two common high schools) for the reference of strengthening experiment teaching in high schools. According to the statistics of the investigating data from the above aspects of several schools,we find that the government of Baotou pay more attention to the experiment teaching . The laboratory instruments are suitable to the required standard, but these instruments are not often used. In fact, present physics teaching put too much premium on knowledge and theory while less attention has been paid to these procedures by which these knowledge and theory are explored and achieved. Thus, despite having experienced the experiment learning and experiment operations, students still can not match their understanding of the experiment to the teaching aims. Experiments haven't served their original purposes as expected.Some of the students still can not reach the requirement of physics teaching syllabus, especially the ability of investigating experiment is very poor. The problems existing in the experiment teaching of physics are short of teaching method. Teaching only emphasizes in using the single teaching model and results in the lack of enthusiasm and positive attitude, students'real thoughts and abilities can not be improved. We can be inspired from the existing problems of the high school physics experiment teaching, contrasting national and international experimental teaching. It includes, reforming the teaching method of physics experiment, enriching the experiment teaching models, integrating the teaching method of physics experiment, making full use of present experimental instruments , supplementing the physics textbooks of the experiment, paying more attention to the simulating experiment on the internet, there are seven aspects to be explained.There are four parts in the essay. The first part is an introduction aimed at present the essay's meaning and plan. In the second part, there is contrast of the studies between physics experiment at home and that aboard. Then the roles of physics experiment teaching in fostering students scientific abilities has been fixed by defining the functions of experiment teaching. Besides, some important inspiration has been found based on the contrast above. In the third part, an investigation and analysis of the present conditions of physics teaching in Baotou is described. This part also provides some accurate data in details for strengthening deeply study of high school experiment teaching. In the fourth part, some conclusions are achieved based on inspiration got from these investigation and analysis, which are of value to other physics teachers.
