What is dominant in the evaluation of the students' learning result in basic education is written examination. It is not only a matter concerning the improvement of the students' learning results, their healthy growth, but a matter of whether the reform in education will succeed and the goal of education will be reached as well, to face the problem squarely, to study it, to reform it based on the new educational ideas so as to reduce its negative influence to the utmost degree, and to develop its positive factors.Making papers for written examination in history for middle school students, one must follow the new educational conception contained in "the Norm for the Course of History", and obey a certain principle, i. e. the most important thing is to examine the students' learning ability so as to guide them to get out of the mire of mechanical memorization, and at the same time the examination of the students' basic historical knowledge and their basic ability to analyze the knowledge should not be overlooked. The examination paper should reflect the examination of the teaching goal of "course and method"; it should be closely related to the reality of social life, guide the students' attention to the world outside their classroom, and teach them to study history through various channels. It should examine cleverly how the teaching of the course develop the students' "emotion, attitude and values". The examination paper should be different in form and rich in content, containing maps, charts and texts, which will make the paper vivid and give hints for the students to answer the questions, thus helping the students to find an answer to all the questions in a relaxed atmosphere by applying what knowledge they have mastered and the ability they have developed. The study of the principle for making paper for written examination in history for middle school students is of great importance, for it help the teachers follow the correct direction in teaching the course, and reach the teaching goal easily. If the teacher want to achieve better results in the written examination in history strictly based on the new educational conception reflected in the "Norm for the Course of History", he must have a good command of the basic content on the course, help the students develop their basic ability to study the course. The teacher must pay much attention to develop the students' learning ability, help them to accurately grasp the message contained in the historical materials, correctly analyze historical phenomenon and historical question, thus arriving at a conclusion which agrees to historical facts and the law of historical development. He should follow the principle for history study and history research, changing the old teaching method. He should direct the students' attention to social life, help them to learn historical message through various channels. He should, through scientific teaching and scientific examination, educate the students in "emotion, attitude and values" in a natural way, thus making these become part of their personality, and use it in their future social activities.
