As one of the most important types of teaching, the lecture on test papercomment and appraisal can feed back the result of assessments of a test, enablingstudents to know their knowledge and competence, improving the weaknesses oftheir knowledge, fulfill the knowledge and thinking system and improving the abilityof analyzing and solving problems. However, in most classes, the teacher alwaysexplain the exercise in order, both the teacher and the students feeling dull and wornout, leading to bad effects. This methodology is far away from the need of the newcurriculum. Therefore, the effect and efficiency of test paper comment should befocused on as a vital aspect.For the same paper, different students have got different scores. Afteranalyzing the paper and explaining the key points, we teachers can enable each ofthem to acquire skills and knowledge related, which is also a standard to checkwhether the lesson is effective or not.The author, who has been teaching the senior3classes for two years, has been trying out a series of trials in order to find a maturemodel of test paper comment, which contains four steps. Firstly, students areexpected to find and correct the errors and mistakes. They are asked to correct themistakes which are resulted from non-intellectual factors. This step is key toimproving the average scores of a class and helping the “students at the edge”improve their scores, because many of the mistakes are not the focus of a class, andthey can be corrected by students themselves. The correction should be done, whichcan be ensured by the teacher who checks the students before class. Secondly, thestudents are asked to explore the exercises through cooperation. Students candiscuss in groups, finding the reasons of the mistakes. They can express their ownideas about the important exercise in order to find the correct solution. It is veryimportant to help the students to participate in the discussion. Although thediscussion in groups can give students more chance to express their ideas, somegroup numbers who are not equally good at it may fall behind and just become theaudience while someone who understand the exercise don’t have the patience to listen to others’ ideas instead they just quit group discussion doing their owningexercise. Thus, the teacher should do more to help it, pointing out that theconclusion should be reached on the base of cooperation. Thirdly, groups areexpected to communicate in between. The representatives are asked to show theconclusion by their group. This step is meant to help students better their ability ofexpression. At first, students can just show the procedure of solving the exercises,focusing just on the detailed information, which is a waste of time. But, throughtraining, the students have increasingly better understanding of the approaches, thedifficult point and the weakness. They can explain the exercises clearly more quickly.The fourth step is consolidation and feedback. For the typical exercise, the teachershould give students the relevant diversity of the exercises to find the effect ofteaching in the lesson and give proper evaluation. The validity of the “four-part”papers commenting model, which is based on team work, has been tested in practice.As a result, it is recommended that math teachers should try and promote it.
