According to an investigation, many middle students think chemistry is difficult to learn. One cause of this problem lies in the fact that chemistry, this discipline itself is complicated. Therefore many researchers on chemistry teaching attach great importance to establishing feasible principle and methodology which could guide chemistry teaching and learning proceeding from characteristics of chemistry discipline.Chemistry is a natural science exploring the constitution, structure, nature and law of matter on the level of molecule and atom, This indicates that chemistry investigates matter from microcosmic level; whereas the nature and transformation of matter are reflected on the macroscopical level. This makes microcosmic theory which elaborates on the constitution and structure of matter the basis of understanding matter and its law of transformation. This reflects the combination of macrocosm and microcosm. With regard to each chemistry learner's mentality, two thinking, that is, macroscopical and microcismic thinking of matter come into being. The features of chemistry as a discipline entail oganic combination of these two sorts of thinking. Thus, understanding chemistry from the perspective mentioned above becomes an efficacious methodology guiding chemistry teaching and learning. On the basis of the general review of research on macroscoptical and microcosmic thinking home and abroad, and guided by psychological theory, this thesis elaborates on the significance and necessity of combination of these two sorts of thinking. At the same time, this thesis argues that the organic combination of these two thinking is helpful in reflecting the inherent relation of chemistry discipline, and overcoming the restriction of single thinking. As a result, the overall advantages of the two thinking will be fully brought into play. Also in this thesis, the process of how these two thinking take shape is thoroughly discussed. In order to help students to acquire a new thinking which incorporates these two thinking, design a teaching strategy featured by the combination of these two thinking, and attach great importance to cultivating their consciousness of combining these two thinking. Furthermore, this thesis points out that the cultivation of microcosmic imagination is key to the combination of these two thinking. While using other's instructional design for reference, this thesis generalizes a set of teaching strategy which fully shows macroscoptical thinking, microcosmic thinking and the combination of these two thinking. After one year's practice in classroom, both students'chemistry final examination grade before and after this teaching strategy was carried out and students'feedback make clear that this new thinking is resultful in terms of chemistry teaching. In a breakdown, this new thinking will do good to students'better understanding of chemistry, highlighting students'difficulties in learning chemistry; It helps to lighten students'memory burden and facilitates their absorption of knowledge; It is conductive to the flexible application of book learning and improving problem-solving ability; It is also helpful in cultivating students'scientific modes of thought.Last but not the least, this thesis discusses and looks ahead into the problems existing in the research so as to guide the further research.
