Analysis Of The Gymnasts' Achievement Motivation In North China Area

Nowadays,the levels of physical and technical abilities near to more and more among excellent athletes in all countries. As a result, the mental factor displays decisive function to victory or defeat of gymnastic competitions. Achievement motivation is a kind of social motivation,is personal inner part to motive of trying hard for the success in study, working, research activities,etc, is essential one of mental qualities to become an excellent athlete. But now the research relating to gymnasts'motivation is quite a little in our country, Say nothing of the related research of achievement motivation.This thesis adopted Sport Motivation Inventory of a Japanese famous sport psychologist Taikyo, carry on the mental test on more than 210 gymnasts belonging to provincial sport teams in north China area. With many additional interviews with coaches and gymnasts, the level of achievement motivation on gymnasts is analyzed. And according to the different sport teams, training phases, sex and technique levels, the research and analysis on achievement motivation is carried on, and the characteristics of achievement motivation of gymnasts is discussed, whose aim of the research is providing the reference to coaches with scientific selection, training, education and management for gymnasts . Through research and analysis, get to draw following conclusions:1 The gymnasts in north China area show higher level at each dimension of achievement motivation. It is the outstanding characteristics of the gymnasts in north China area to show the stronger will and perseverance.2 Comparing with other 4 teams, the gymnasts in Peking team present higher levels at most dimensions of achievement motivation. 3 The abilities of male gymnasts in the advanced training stage in challenge toward targets and plans obviously much higher, but not adapting to the coaches and intemperance in daily life is also obviously higher. The desire of improving techniques and mental fortitude of male gymnasts in the medium training stage is higher.The spirit fortitude, resilience and the will to fight of the female gymnasts in the advanced training stage is obviously higher, and the mental stability is better during the training and competition; The desire of improving techniques and mental fortitude of female gymnasts in the medium training stage is lowest, and the levels of anxiety caused by tension and adapting to the coaches is higher. The desire of improving techniques is higher and adapting to the coaches is also best.4 There presents to show the marked differences in parts of dimensions only when the men and female gymnasts compared. The gymnasts'each dimension of achievement motivation with different levels of techniques in the medium training stage is compared, presenting to show no marked differences. But there appears to show the differences in parts of achievement motivation during the contrast of the gymnasts with different levels of techniques in the advanced and primary training stages.
