PurposeThe aim of the study was to observe the effect of Living high-Training low on iron metabolism and Hb in sport anemic athletes,and to provide the basis on the therapy of sport anemia.subjects and method11 sport anemic athletes were selected according to their hemoglobin levelfrom Chanyang sports school and Yuanzhong club in Beijing.They were randomly assigned to a hypoxic-group(n=8,2 of them left during the experiment,only6 athletes in fact,HG) and a control-group(n=8,CG).There were no significant differences between both groups before experiment in age,weight,Hb,and,ferritin. During the experiment,the HG lived at simulated aititude of 2500m every night(11h per day) and trained at 50m above sea level for 25 days.In addition, they had 3 times ergometer trainings with the intensity about 70%VO2max for21 minutes in hypoxia every week. While the CG lived and trained at 50m above sea level ,they also had 3 times ergometer trainings with the intensity about 80%VO2max for 21 minutes in normoxia every week.SI,SF,sTfR,TIBC and Hb were measured in blood on pre altitude,11h,8th,15th,22th,25th.Result1. Pre and post altitude, the HG increased Hb(113.17±16.44g/L VS 120.83±18.73 g/L,P<0.05) significantly, especially on 22th .whereas there was no change for the CG(119.00±20.85 g/L VS 120.57±21.80 g/L ).2. TIBC(p<0.05), soluble transferrin receptor (p<0.05) and serum iron (p<0.05) increased significantly,while ferritin (p<0.05) decreased significantly in the HG.There was also no change for the CG.3. There existed heavy iron deficiency between two groups pre and post experiment.The iron deficiency in HG was heavier after altitude.Conclusion1. 25 days especially 3 weeks of simulated 2500m Living high-Training low can increase the Hb level in sports anemic athletes effectively.2. Living high-Training low can have deep effect on iron metabolism in sports anemic athletes.The improvement of iron absorption,transportation and utilization can play an important role in Hb synthesis...
