This article mainly consists of two parts: literature review and experimental research. The influence of physical training and goal setting to individual's mood and basketball technique is given in literature review. In experimental research, the influence of goal setting to the student's mood and basketball technique is discussed through different goal setting during their physical training. The methods are as following: Continuous experiments are given to each experimental group for 9 weeks. POMS is applied as the instrument to measure their mood and basketball technique during different stages. The result shows: (1) All of the goals set have positive effects for the student's mood and basketball technique. (2) After comparing, we found that the effects of short-term and the combination of long and short term goal setting groups are better than those of long-term goal setting group. (3) No remarkable changes are observed in the"Try one's best"group as far as the individual's mood and basketball technique is concerned.
